Whitney Nguyen, Certified Massage Therapist Practicing massage since 1997 Specializing in craniosacral therapy amd visceral massage
I am a massage therapist (MT). I graduated from Boulder College of Massage Therapy, which has earned the reputation as the "Harvard" of massage schools. I graduated with over 1,000 hours of hands-on training and classroom education, which is more than double the 500 hours of education required by the state of Colorado to become a certified massage therapist. I am a member of the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA).
What I love about my career is that it never gets boring because there is always more to learn about the human body. This is what fuels my desire for on-going massage education.
Craniosacral Therapy I, myself, have had an extensive history of craniosacral dysfunction. Due to that dysfunction, I went through years of headaches, migraines, neck and back pain, dizziness, "foggy head," memory problems, and hormonal imbalances. I was amazed that after receiving craniosacral treatment all of those issues disappeared. Because of the change in my body, it peaked my curiosity and propelled me to do extensive study and on-going education in craniosacral therapy. I have found that craniosacral therapy is very powerful work. If you have caraniosacral dysfunction, there is no substitute for craniosacral therapy--other modalities of treatment do not fully address the problem at its source.
In my quest for learning craniosacral therapy I started my study with Upledger craniosacral training. After having received treatment from a Canadian trained osteopath specializing in craniosacral therapy, I noticed dramatic results in my body. This shifted my craniosacral study to the Canadian osteopathic approach. In my opinion the Canadian and European osteopathic approach is more precise and has its roots firmly based in cranial anatomy. I have found that the more precise you are with the treatment, the better results you achieve.
In my 26 years of practicing massage therapy I have had my own private practice, worked for Dr. Gary Ellingson at his Oralfacial Pain Clinic, and worked at C.O.R.E. Physical Therapy. At the Oral Facial Pain Clinic my work focused on treating patients with headaches, migraines, neck pain, jaw pain, and TMJ dysfunction. The patients I treated were those who had serious injuries, had seen other health care practitioners, and felt they had not regained their quality of life.
At C.O.R.E. Physical Therapy I worked in conjunction with physical therapists to assist clients in their recovery from surgeries and injuries. This work was corrective in nature and addressed muscular-skeletal imbalances in the body to improve posture, range of motion, and decrease pain and tension.
I have also worked cooperatively with doctors, chiropractors, physical therapists, dentists, and orthodontists.
