1. How do I schedule an appointment? You can schedule an appointment on-line by clicking on Appointments & Services at the top of the page. This is a quick and easy method to schedule appointments any time of the day or night. Your email address and phone number will be kept confidential. You will receive an email appointment confirmation, and you can also request an email appointment reminder the day before your appointment. For those who prefer you can schedule by phone (970) 631-9940. When you leave a message, please indicate preferences of dates and times.
2. What do I wear during the massage? My recommendation is to undress keeping on only your underwear; bra removal is optional, but removal is preferred in order to benefit fully from back massage. You will be covered with a sheet and blanket at all times, and only the area on which I am currently working will be uncovered. I am a professional massage therapist, and the breast and genitalia will never be exposed or touched.
3. How do I get the most out of my massage? Communication is key. I need to know what goals you have or what you want to receive from your session. Example: I just want to relax. I need relief from my headaches. I want the tension in my neck and shoulders to relax.
4. How do I know what is the right amount of pressure? There is an "o-o-o-h feels so good" pain---that is therapeutic pain; then there is an "ouch" pain---that is when you need to tell me "that is too much pressure." Please speak up at any time, and tell me if it is too much or too little pressure.
5. What if I have to go to the bathroom in the middle of a massage? If you need to relieve yourself, simply let me know. Also, when receiving massage the body has normal physiological responses, such as stomach growling. Do not be embarassed.
6. Can I receive massage while pregnant? Yes, you can receive massage throughout your entire pregnancy. During the first three months, there are a few pressure points in the feet and lower leg that are avoided.Prenatal massage can range from relaxation to corrective work. Your position depends on your comfort level and how far along you are in your pregnancy. Extra bolsters are used to make you more comfortable; once you are further along in your pregnancy, side position is used. Massage can help alleviate common hip pain, low-back pain, leg pain, and swelling that often occur during pregnancy. We also focus on bringing the pelvis and low back as close to neutral as possible through soft-tissue massage. This may minimize the barriers for the baby as it moves through the birth canal making it easier for the baby and mother.
7. Will my insurance cover massage? Most insurance companies do not cover massage. Massage may be covered through the following: -- Health saving plans may cover massage. At the time of your massage, please request a payment receipt and medical bill so you can submit them for reimbursement from your health insurance provider. Payment to massage therapist is required at time of service. -- Med-Pay (an additional coverage through your auto insurance) may cover massage for recovery from an auto accident. Please speak with me to determine the potential coverage prior to your massage appointment.
8. Can I bring someone else to the appointment? If you bring children, they need to be in the massage room with you and unobtrusive. If you bring an adult, they may wait in the waiting room.
